Know Before You Go

Campground reservations at Grand Teton typically open several months in advance — book as early as possible for peak season.

A backcountry permit is required for overnight stays in the park. Cell service is limited or nonexistent in much of the backcountry — download offline maps before you go.

If you spot a wildfire

    Note your location: GPS coordinates or nearest trailhead

    Do not re-enter the area until cleared by officials

Water Activities

Jackson Hole's lakes and rivers are cold year-round, and water levels and currents can change rapidly — especially during spring snowmelt. River water sports are advised for experts only — if you're not experienced, go with a licensed guide. Always wear a personal flotation device.
